John R. Tyson
Chair of Strategy and Acquisitions Committee since 2026, Director since 2025
John R. Tyson is an executive, investor and non-profit board member. John brings several years of direct industry experience to the board, having previously served as the company’s Chief Financial Officer and Chief Strategy Officer. Prior to joining Tyson Foods, he worked in investment banking and as a private equity and venture capital investor.
As the Chair of the Strategy and Acquisitions Committee (SAC), John focuses on long-term strategy at Tyson Foods. He helps the company expand its global footprint by evaluating risks and opportunities and making strategic investment and acquisition decisions.
John has an A.B. in Economics, with a secondary concentration in Psychology, from Harvard University and a Master of Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and is also affiliated with the World Economic Forum. In addition, he serves on the board of the Arkansas Cinema Society and previously taught as a lecturer at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas.
John represents the fourth generation of the Tyson family to serve on the company’s Board of Directors. He is focused on advancing food sustainability and has invested in multiple companies shaping the future of food. This long-term perspective informs his approach to strategy, innovation and leadership at Tyson Foods.
