June is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer or Questioning Pride Month (LGBTQ Pride Month). Pride Month, celebrated in June in honor of the June 1969 Stonewall riots, promotes equal justice and equal opportunities for those who identify as LGBTQ. It is also a time to recognize and reflect upon the history of the LGBTQ movement, honor the countless individuals who have helped advance the movement, and also pay tribute to those who have lost their lives to violence and HIV/AIDs.
