Champions for Kids Launches “Be a Hunger Hero” Campaign

Tyson CFK

Sam’s Club members can join Tyson Foods in the fight against hunger.

SPRINGDALE, Ark., July 26, 2016 – Champions for Kids has joined forces with Tyson Foods to fight childhood hunger with the 4th annual “Be a Hunger Hero” campaign. Starting July 26, Sam’s Club shoppers can purchase Tyson® Nuggets, Tyson® Popcorn Chicken, Tyson® Crispy Strips , State Fair® Corn Dogs, Jimmy Dean® Hash Browns, Jimmy Dean® Pancake & Sausage on a stick (blueberry), Jimmy Dean® Maple Sausage Snack Size Sandwiches, and help feed* a child in need.

According to the National Center for Children in Poverty, 22% of all children – more than 16 million – live in families with incomes below the poverty level. These families often struggle to provide nutritious, protein-rich meals for their children. The “Be a Hunger Hero” partnership program helps provide these families with consistent access to food. Tyson Foods hopes to give 1 million meals through this program.

Hunger Heroes can share their battle against childhood hunger with #HungerHeroes on their social pages to connect with other heroes.

Tyson Foods has been active in the fight against hunger for more than a decade, donating more than 100 million pounds of protein since 2000. The company has pledged $50 million in cash and in-kind donations over the next five years in the fight against hunger, specifically on innovative initiatives at the local level. The company partners with Share Our Strength, Lift Up America, Feeding America, the Food Research and Action Center and the League of United Latin American Citizens to raise awareness and help feed the hungry across the nation.

The “Be a Hunger Hero” campaign will launch July 26, in participating Sam’s Club stores and conclude September 26. For more information, please visit www.samsclub.com.
